Good morning...

I have had a very busy week, we moved last weekend into our new house! So, this past week has included, my very busy work schedule plus, unpacking the house.

I was worried about not having a babysitter but, I have this wonderfully, awesome husband who, stayed home this past week and will be at home this week taking care of the house and kids! He is starting his own painting business and his job is too far so, it was not feasible for him to pay multiple bus fares to and from work, in the end after paynig a sitter and bus fares, almost 70% of his check would have been gone. There is a factory in front of our neighborhood which he might apply, just until he starts getting paint jobs. He's a man and he's Mexican, the stay at home Dad doesn't appease to his personality but, for the meantime, it is working good. This has prove dto me that he is a real man who doesn't let the "machissmo" and family comments get him down. Thank God!

I have been trying to register the kids in school all week but, the morning school wouldn't accept them and I could never find the Director at the afternoon school. On Friday, I finally caught the "Head teacher", she said, they can start Monday but, I will have to pay the cuota of $350, placement testing fees of $240, plus buy special uniforms from the school. This schools uniform has the schools name sewed into the fabric of the collar and a badge sewed on each arm. She said that I can only get them at the school.

I have my house unpacked more or less. We have bedroom furniture, 2 kitchen tables, 2 end tables, a Mexican style washer (the kind you ring the clothes out your self), 3 TV's, all the kitchen stuff but, no sofas or sitting chairs and no outside furniture. This is on my shopping list to get in a few weeks little by little. Oh, we do have a refrigerator but, it is very old and uses way too much electricity so, that is the first thing we will buy. My kitchen is super small but, I can deal with that (maybe), I have about 3 feet of counter space and one of the small stoves. Atleast, we now have a house and PRIVACY! I will take pictures as soon as, I remember to buy batteries for my camara!LOL I seem to keep forgetting.

As for my job, it just keeps getting better! I am giving classes for a total of 32 hours a week and now have 1 private class on Saturdays for 2 hours and have another interested in taking private classes. I am thinking of advertising in my neighborhood about classes, maybe a kids group and an adult group.

Ya tengo casa!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yaaaaayyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it is official, we have a new house and just in time for my birthday tomorrow!!!!!! Yayyyyyy! Oh my God!!! I am so happy!!! I will be moving into a real house Friday. For everyone who hasn't read my past posts, you need a little history to understand.

I arrived to Monterrey in March and at first, was living with my in laws in a house with 2 bedrooms, tiny living room, tiny kitchen, and 1 bathroom. In this house lived my mother in law, father in law, sister in law, other sister in law, niece, nephew, my daughter, my son, my husband, and finally myself. This house is about 900 square feet, ok. Well, we stayed there for a little while around a month or so and then we moved next door into an even smaller house but, it was just the 4 of us. In this house we have 1 bedroom, "living room" if you can call it that (my closet in the US was bigger, so not exaggerating), a bathroom, and a place for the kitchen. I say place because the house consisted of concrete walls and floors, no cabinets, appliances, counters nothing, just the plumbing for the kitchen sink.

Well, we actually came to Mexico with a little bit of money not a lot but, some.  My goal before we left was to rent a normal house and use our money to furnish it but, Miguel's family had other plans and took advantage of the fact that Miguel is this extremely nice person and made it look like they didn't have any money. So, Miguel paid for EVERYTHING at first, food, outings, utilities, etc. I understand helping but, not supporting everyone!! His sister's husband is in the US and sends her $500 USD a week so, she has money, his dad has a fulltime job, and his mom sells tamales 3 times a week. Everybody has money and was doing really good until we got here and then miraculously they are starving to death and are about to get the utilities cut off! Go figure.

Needless to say, we spent all of our money in 1 month. Food is expensive here, especially when you are buying for 10 people and at moments for up to 30!! I tried to tell him but, he kept saying, I haven't seen them in 5 years and they need my help. He was totally brainwashed!!

Anyway, back to the story, due to this spending, we didn't have money to buy furniture, muchless a kitchen so; we continued to eat at his mom's house.

For the last 5 months, they have made my life hell. (As you can see in my posts) So, I am extremely excited to be moving!!!

Our new house is 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, laundry room, a sort of living room on 2nd floor with a small balcony, parking area inside the gate, and GRASS! It is perfect for us. The living room area is connected to the dining room but, is very small and one of the bedrooms is downstairs off the kitchen. I am planning on turning that bedroom into the living room and the actual living room into my office/ kids study area. The kids will share a bedroom for now (they usually end up sleeping in the same room anyway, even when we were in the US) As for the 2nd living room, we will turn it into a recreation area. The master bedroom has a minisplit so; the kids’ bedroom will get our window unit.

I will be going there Friday morning to clean and will be moving everything in on Saturday. Yaaayyyyy!!!!

Now, we just need a couch, loveseat, washer, and patio table. The first thing will be the couch, though. I have my mother in laws old washer, the kind you fill up with the water hose and ring out the clothes yourself. I never imagined myself washing clothes like that but, hey, you have to do what you have to do! LOL

School starts Monday so, we are just in time. Now, I need to find a sitter, any advice on how to find a quality sitter in Mexico?

Have a great day!

And now..... I am house hunting, with a major deadline: August 22, 2011

So, we have been searching for a house and we thought, we had found it Friday but, as usual, we go to see it and it turns out that it is 35 minutes away from my job without traffic so, that made it out of the question. You see, my schedule at work is, Classes 7AM-9AM, No classes 9AM to 1PM, classes 1PM to 8:30PM, with breaks ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour in between so, I need a house close enough to where I can go home at 9AM and not break the bank with gas usage. I am literally dying of exhaustion right now, I leave my house at 6AM and don't return until 9:30PM, 15 1/2 hours away from home!! Thank God, it is only Monday-Thursday, Fridays are so much easier, I leave at 6AM and return at 3PM.

Back to the house hunting, I found this beautiful house 5 minutes from my first class and 15 minutes from my last class. It had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a loft area upstairs and living room, dining room, kitchen, foyer, 1/2 bath, laundry room down stairs and only cost $4500 pesos. So it was all good until, the owner told me it wouldn't be ready until October!! Go figure!  Thus morning, i went to give a class and my 7AM student asked me how the house search was going and I told him not so good. He said that he has a house about 15 minutes from the office and it has 3 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, and fenced in yard (With grass!!!) and just wants someone to occupy it. I asked about rent, he said, "we'll discuss that later for me not to worry" Then, I asked about the deposit he said, "I just told you, we'll discuss this later, don't worry!" So, I am going to look at it this week, hopefully it is as good as he says so, I can get my kids situated in a school before, August 22, 2011!

If anybody knows of anyone in the San Nicolas area with a house for rent, PLEASE contact me!!

My job is going great, other than my crazy hours, my in-laws have completely drove me crazy!! I have just learnt to ignore certain things, if I don't, it will eventually cause Miguel and I major issues, we fight all the time here lately due to the stress. He has even mention a few times that he wants to just cross the border again with a coyote so, everything will go back to normal but, I refuse to let him.

 Have a great day everyone!

Sis in law says I steal babies!!!!!!!!!!

Well, we went to a party this weekend at Miguel's cousin's house, it was for his son's first birthday. So, we arrived and I went in to say hello to his other cousins and all of a sudden, his cousin confronts me.
She says,""Why are you trying to sell my baby?"
I about fell on the floor!! I asked, "What the hell are you talking about?"
She told me that my sister in law told her that, I was trying to sell her baby online and the deal fell through because, the couple wanted a girl and her baby is a boy!!! This is my Godson, for Gods sake!
I was sure, she was joking but, no she said that sis in law told her to be careful. I assured her that it was not true and got everything straight with her and her mom, thank God.
I came to find out that my mother in law was there when this was told and didn't say anything to defend me. So, I have been a black market baby dealer or so my comadre thought for the past week and me, no clue. She asked me not to say anything at the party because, it would have ruined everything. I didn't say anything and am waiting until she returns from Tampico this weekend to confront her. However, I will be talking to Mother dearest today after work.
Miguel is very angry about this but, I think he feels like he will lose is parents after we confront them. This sister lives in her parents house and practically controls everything his parents do. I feel bad for them and for Miguel but, oh well, she shouldn't have made up that kind of lie. I could have been arrested for that!
Needless to say, we are definitely moving this weekend come hell or high water!!! I will be find a new babysitter, also.
